OSHAWA, Ontario (August 25, 2004) - GM Canada today announced that pricing for the 2005 Pontiac Pursuit will start at manufacturer's suggested retail price (MSRP) of $15,925, and pricing for the 2005 Pontiac G6 will start at MSRP of $24,670.
Peter Bannon, Director of GM Canada Vehicle Marketing, said, "With the very competitive prices we have set for the Pursuit and G6, Pontiac is ready to raise the bar on styling, performance and affordability in these two key market segments. The Pontiac Pursuit will set a new benchmark for compact cars while G6 brings enhanced sports sedan performance and features to the affordable midsize segment."
Pontiac Pursuit
The Canada-only Pursuit brings a new level of small car refinement, quality and performance to the market. It is built on GM's Delta architecture and features a clean, contemporary design, spacious interior and excellent dynamic performance.
Pursuit is the epitome of Pontiac. It offers all of the features customers expect from a premium compact with the expressive styling known to Pontiac. The smooth clean lines create a fresh and upscale exterior, while maintaining a sporty appearance with the traditional Pontiac styling cues including the vented front fascia with twin-port grill, cat-eye headlamps and Pontiac badging. The finishing touch is the standard 15-inch and available 16-inch wheels. The sportier GT models have a more aggressive appearance with side rocker moldings, longer front fascia and standard 17-inch wheels.
Pursuit offers many features not typically found in small cars, including air conditioning, electric rear defogger, CD player and driver information center. Plus, unexpected available features include heated leather seats, power sunroof, MP3 player and OnStar.
Pontiac G6
Pontiac G6 challenges the look and feel of sporty midsize cars. This all-new sports sedan reinvigorates the midsize segment with contemporary design, total performance and exceptional attention to detail. Built on GM's Epsilon architecture, the G6 delivers responsive ride and handling qualities due to its class-leading 2,852 mm (112.3-inch) wheelbase.
The G6's unique proportions allow many unexpected details, including rear passenger door glass that rolls down all the way and the available Panoramic sliding roof - a four-panel, electronically operated glass roof. The G6 sedan currently is the only automobile in North America to offer this sliding roof design.
Complementing the G6's bold exterior is a driver-focused cockpit with intuitively placed controls. Settling into the right driving position is made easier with tilt and telescoping steering column and available adjustable pedals. Other interior features include available remote start; premium sound system with in-dash 6-CD changer and steering wheel controls; personalized driver information center; and 100/60/40 rear-seat folding combinations.
Initially, the G6 and G6 GT models will be offered with a new 3.5-liter V-6 engine, which is rated at 200 horsepower and 220 lb.-ft. of torque. An Ecotec 2.4L 170 horsepower 4-cylinder and a 3.9L 240 horsepower V6 will be offered next year.
Both vehicles arrive at Pontiac dealerships this fall.
