Arriving in dealerships in June, the new Forester has revised exterior styling, more powerful engines and several enhancements to its performance and utility.
The vehicle now has a new grille, four-lamp headlights, and new bumper, hood and fenders. At the rear, Forester carries new tail lamps and an aluminum trim panel. All models get new, larger, body-coloured mirrors with integrated LED turn signals. All naturally-aspirated models receive activate valve lift technology, which will boost horsepower to 173 from 165 in 2005 models. The turbocharged 2.5-litre engine in the Forester 2.5XT receives 20 extra horsepower and now meets the Lower Emissions Vehicle Level II standard. It will also be the first Subaru sold in Canada to offer high intensity discharge headlamps.
The Impreza 2.5RS Special Edition wagon is available immediately and is specific to Canada. It features a standard moonroof, WRX-type bucket seats, rear spoiler, upgraded stereo and alloy pedals. The price with manual transmission is $24,995, or $2,000 over the base model.
