Richmond Hill, Ontario - Mazda Canada announced Manufacturer's Suggested Retail Prices (MSRPs) for the new 2006 MX-5 Miata sports car. The 2006 MX-5 will be available in dealerships across Canada in September.
Three trim levels will be offered GX, GS and GT. With a base MSRP of $27,995, the new MX-5 GX starts at the same price as the previous model. Standard equipment includes a 170-horsepower, 2.0-litre, four-cylinder engine with variable valve timing; 5-speed manual transmission; 16-inch alloy wheels with 205/50R tires; 4-wheel disc brakes; front and rear stabilizer bars; power windows and door locks; AM/FM/CD with 6-speakers and steering wheel mounted audio controls; tilt steering, cruise control, keyless entry and fog lamps. A new 6-speed sport-shift automatic transmission, air conditioning and a detachable hard top are available options.
The price of the 2006 MX-5 GS is $30,995. Upgrades from the GX model include a 6-speed manual transmission; 17-in alloy wheels with 205/45R 17 tires; anti-lock brakes (ABS); limited slip differential (LSD); dynamic stability control (DSC); strut tower bar; sport tuned suspension with Bilstein shock absorbers. Air conditioning and a detachable hard top are options.

The GT model comes equipped with a 6-speed manual transmission; 17-inch alloy wheels with 205/45R 17 tires; ABS; strut tower bar; Xenon (HID) headlights; heated leather seats; cloth convertible top (vinyl on GX and GS); air conditioning; side airbags; smart card keyless entry and Bose audio system with 7-speakers. A new, 6-speed automatic transmission with steering wheel mounted paddle shifters is available as an option, as is a detachable hard top.
A very limited run of MX-5 3rd Generation Limited models will sell for $34,495. Only 3,500 3rd Generation Limited cars will be available globally and of those 150 are slated for Canada. Each car is identified by a numbered plate on the transmission tunnel. The exclusive colour for the MX-5 3rd Generation Limited is Velocity Red Mica. Front and rear bumpers feature the same distinctive red colour, while the front bumper grille, A-pillar, outer door handle, head lamp bezel and foglamp covers all boast unique, silver trim. In addition, and to make the car stand out from a distance, the windshield frame is clad in silver trim. Inside, the MX-5 3rd Generation Limited includes a seven-speaker Bose AM/FM/CD stereo, stainless steel scuff plates and a numbered badge. Silver accents to the centre panel, ventilation louvres, meter rings, shift lever and parking brake compliment the interior colour scheme. In addition, exclusive heated red leather seats nicely match the exterior of the car.
