The engines were designed jointly by Chrysler, Mitsubishi, and Hyundai, and will be made and used by all three - in rather different configurations (Mitsubishi even has a three-cylinder variant!). Chrysler is using dual-variable-valve technology to control both intake and exhaust valves; Hyundai is using a different variable-valve package. The result of this, as well as different intakes and other packaging details, will probably result in different power outputs for each of the three companies using the same basic engines.
World Class Engines
Chrysler LLC engineering leads the development of key technologies that will give its customers high-value benefits in cost-efficient engines. These technologies debuted in the Chrysler version of the World Engine, co-developed by Hyundai Motor Company and Mitsubishi Motors Corporation for the Global Engine Manufacturing Alliance (GEMA).
Engines of three different displacements are in production for Chrysler LLC: 1.8-litre, 2.0-litre and 2.4-litre. The horsepower and torque targets are among the best four-cylinder engines -- 170 horsepower and 165 lb-ft of torque for the 2.4-litre. Fuel economy is a key factor in the four-cylinder market, while Chrysler continues to find ways to offer better performance in this area. These engines are targeted to raise the efficiency by five percent over the engines they replace. These technologies also enable the engine to meet the ultra- clean ULEV II emissions standards.
2.4-Litre World Engine 2.4-litre DOHC 16-valve World Engine. A joint development between Chrysler, Mitsubishi and Hyundai, it incorporates dual Variable Valve Timing, which allows the engine to operate more efficiently, delivering a 15 percent increase in horsepower.
2.0-Litre Engine 2.0-litre DOHC 16-valve dual Variable Valve Timing (VVT) engine. This advanced Four-cylinder engine offers the world-class power and durability you seek behind the wheel.
1.8-Litre Engine Fuel efficiency doesn't get much better than the available 1.8-litre DOHC 16-valve dual Variable Valve Timing (VVT) engine. You'll also get the power you want to achieve, with 148-horsepower and 125 lb-ft of torque.
Effectivement, Kia appartient à Hyundai et les deux compagnies utilisent les mêmes plateformes et moteurs. Leurs moteurs sont également utilisés par Chrysler et Mitsubishi, mais modifiés par ces dernières compagnies.
En tout cas, les Hyundai ont l'air plus dignes de confiance que les Kia.Citation:

Ne vous demandez pas pourquoi Kia et Huyndai sont si peu chers... ils sont fiables certes, mais au niveau de la sécurité, on voit que ce n'Est pas leur priorité

jài un copain qui achete du use et les Kia de plus de 100 000km on a peu pres tous des probleme de transmission ou de moteur, il me semble que c`est moins pire avec Hyundai
Habituellement Hyundai retiennent leurs nouvelles technologies quelques années avant quelles apparaissent chez Kia.
