The problem is that there's not a lot of grunt in reserve, and with what should be a svelte 3,500 lbs. to lug around, the RAV4 feels a bit pokey.
Lost in the shuffle of the simplified lineup is an overall sense that this RAV4 – the great-grand crossover of the first modern car-based SUV to hit the market – has been repositioned as something of an entry-level value alternative to vehicles with a wider range of personalization like the Ford Escape and Hyundai Santa Fe.
The RAV4 is hardly a corner carver. A new electric power steering setup undoubtedly reduces a little fuel consumption, resulting in the kind of numbness that plagues the RAV4's chief rival, the Honda CR-V. A dash-mounted Sport button firms up the steering assist ever-so-slightly, but it doesn't really make things more fun. Road noise permeates the cabin due to limited sound deadening, though wind and engine rush are mostly absent.
2013 Toyota RAV4 base price range, $24,145 to $29,285.

The interior looks very, very good, thanks to two-tone colors and soft leather upholstery. Factor in a 176-hp 2.5-liter four-cylinder engine and standard six-speed automatic transmission, plus the choice of front- or all-wheel-drive, and the RAV4 seems pretty compelling. It even has a power-operated liftgate, too. A nearby Mercedes-Benz GLK seems to wobble for an instant as the 2013 RAV4 punctures the Benz's little bubble of entitlement.
We have no bad things to say about the electric-assist power steering

In all, the refreshed RAV4 has just enough to compete in the segment it helped pioneer, and dealers shouldn't have any issues moving plenty of units off the lot.
Prix canadiens:
RAV4 FWD LE (Starting MSRP: $23,790)
RAV4 FWD XLE (Starting MSRP: $27,000)
RAV4 AWD LE (Starting MSRP: $25,990)
RAV4 AWD XLE (Starting MSRP: $29,200)
RAV4 AWD Limited (Starting MSRP: $31,700)
RAV4 FWD base (Starting MSRP: $24,800)
RAV4 FWD touring (Starting MSRP: $26,200)
RAV4 AWD base (Starting MSRP: $27,500)
RAV4 AWD touring (Starting MSRP: $28,900)
RAV4 AWD Limited (Starting MSRP: $35,000)
All three trim levels look identical save a choice of wheel sizes and designs, which means that the range-topping Limited doesn't really seem very special. That sense of sameness carries over inside, where about the only difference between LE, XLE and Limited grades is the upholstery and a few trim bits.
All three models are well-packaged with good front and rear passenger room, plus a roomy cargo area now accessible by a conventional (powered on Limiteds) lift gate rather than the swing-away door RAV4s have had up until now. The horizontally-styled dashboard is attractive and functional and all models come standard with a touch-screen audio system and a back-up camera. Materials are mostly average, though the padded and stitched vinyl trim on XLE and Limited-grade dashboards is quite nice. Opt for the XLE and you'll get sportier cloth seats, while Limited covers those in a leather-like material called Softex. Real hide isn't on the options list and Softex is more convincing than your average synthetic, but the inability to sit on real cows further underlines the RAV4's glass ceiling status.
Just like a full-size luxury crossover, the 2013 RAV4 has an impressive suite of consumer-friendly standard features that include active and passive safety, comfort and convenience, and electronic connectivity. What we notice first is the power-operated cargo hatch, which can be programmed to open to the height you prefer, whether this is to accommodate a shorter driver or avoid banging the low ceiling in an apartment garage. You'll find a 6-inch touchscreen in the middle of the dash, and a backup camera and Bluetooth are both standard equipment as a result. Optional niceties like blind-spot warning, cross-traffic backup alert and Toyota's simple but usable Entune multimedia system are also available. This is a lot of stuff.

ok, conflicting reports :
http://www.toyota.ca/cgi-bin/WebObje...guage=francais
http://ca.autoblog.com/2012/12/18/20...-drive-review/
LE models come equipped with 17-inch five-spoke steel wheels with "alloy-like wide vent" wheel covers which do a surprisingly convincing job of looking like alloys at a distance. XLE and Limited models are equipped with alloy wheels in 17-inch and 18-inch sizes, respectively.
Adding that liftgate has allowed Toyota to offer optional power assist on Limited models,
bon, du cost cutting a la japonaise :
Four-wheel disc brakes (ventilated up front) are standard, though we find it a bit odd that the LE model is fitted with smaller (10.8-inch diameter, .98-inch thickness) units than XLE and Limited models (11.7-inch and 1.1-inch). Rear brakes are the same all around, measuring 11.1 inches in diameter and .472 inches in thickness. Regardless of size disparities, we found the brakes perfectly adequate during our drive.
the last nail ...
The five remaining seats can be covered in two fabric types or a synthetic leather substitute that Toyota calls Softex. After sampling all options, we definitely prefer the cloth – we find it hard to believe anyone will be fooled by the imitation leather. Sadly, opting for Limited trim necessitates the Softex interior treatment.
Navigation and Entune are optionally available on XLE and Limited trim levels
:-?
35k sans navi !!!!!!!!!!! :p way to go toyota !!!
