Non la 500 partage sa plate-forme avec le XC90 seulement.

L'actuelle S80 repose sur une autre plate-forme.

Test mules of the next Volvo S80 were caught this week north of Phoenix. Sharing platform components with the Ford Five Hundred, Ford Freestyle, and Mercury Montego.

Quant à moi l'actuelle S60 et S80 n'a rien de Ford là-dedans. Le bal a commencé avec la S40 et maintenant ça sera la S80.

La relation Ford-Yamaha (Taurus SHO) ne date pas d'hier ni celle de Toyota-Yamaha (toyota 2000GT 1971 et le 1.8 de 180 H.P. dans la celica GTS/corolla XRS et Matrix). Tout comme honda, Yamaha est très fort au niveau motorisation, d'ailleurs, la 2000 GT de l'époque avait un 6 cylindres de 2.0 litre de 150 H.P., soit, un rendement de 75 H.P./litre que même les américains ont encore de la misère à obtenir aujourd'hui. Le V6 de 3.0 litre de la SHO (220 H.P.) avaient la capacité de tourner à 8000 TPM sauf qu'il ni avait pas d'alternateur capable de tenir à un tel régime...
