General Motors is recalling 804,000 full-size pickup trucks and SUVs due to potential brake issues, the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration said this week. NHTSA said the antilock brake system may be improperly applied in some vehicles, which can cause increased stopping distances during low-speed braking that may result in a crash. Vehicles affected include: Chevrolet Avalanche and Silverado pickups, Chevrolet Suburban and Tahoe SUVs, GMC Sierra pickups and Yukon/Yukon XL SUVs. All 804,000 vehicles are from the 1999-02 model years, NHTSA said.
In other recall news: Hyundai is recalling 36,000 Sonatas due to front seat belts may interfere with the seat back recliner knob. Only 2006 models are affected. Ford reported it is recalling 17,263 Land Rover LR3 SUVs from the 2005 model year to replace potentially defective fuel tanks
