Transport Canada issues latest recalls

Ottawa, Ontario - Transport Canada has issued its latest recalls, which may affect some Nissan, Toyota, Lexus, Cadillac, Nissan, Audi and Jeep vehicles.

2003 Nissan Altima, 2003 Nissan Sentra, Vehicles affected: 17,991

On certain vehicles equipped with the 2.5-litre engine, the crank angle sensor can malfunction, causing the engine to stall. Dealers will reprogram the ECM to prevent stalling.

2004-2006 Lexus RX330, 2004-2006 Lexus RH400H, 2004-2006 Toyota Highlander, 2004-2006 Toyota Highlander HV; Vehicles affected: 14,512

On certain vehicles, due to the improper installation of the retaining clips for the floor carpet cover, there is a possibility that the clips may become loose. If both clips separate from the floor carpet cover, the cover may cause interference with the accelerator pedal rod. In the worst case, the accelerator pedal may temporarily become stuck in a partially-depressed position. Dealers will install new clips on affected vehicles.

2004-2005 Cadillac XLR; Vehicles affected: 316

On certain vehicles, the bulb used for the daytime running lights, turn signals and parking lamps may burn out prematurely. Dealers will replace the socket and bulb in both lamps.

2001-2002 Toyota Echo, 2001-2002 Toyota Prius; Vehicles affected: 14,979

On certain vehicles, due to improper moulding of the resin body of the crankshaft position sensor, engine oil may penetrate the seal and enter the sensor wiring connector. In addition, the wire harness connector may not be sufficiently attached to the locking tab. Engine oil in the connector could deform it, and in the worst case, the connector may become disconnected, which could cause the engine to stall while driving and not be able to be restarted. Dealers will replace the crankshaft position sensor.

2007 Nissan Versa;Vehicles affected: 954

In certain vehicles equipped with a continually variable transmission (CVT), the odometer and trip record counter are calibrated in miles, rather than kilometres. Dealers will reprogram the odometer. Where such programming is not feasible or practical, the odometer will be replaced with one recording in kilometres.

2006 Audi A3; Vehicles affected: 7

In certain vehicles, either the left or right side curtain airbag inflation module may leak. In a collision, the airbag may not inflate as designed. Dealers will remove and replace the airbag.

2002-2006 Jeep Liberty; Vehicles affected: 66,000

In certain vehicles, the constant tension front lower ball joints may experience contamination. If the vehicle is operated for an extended period with this condition, the ball joint may eventually experience wear and looseness. If operation continues, the contamination can lead to corrosion, accelerated wear, and possible separation from the steering knuckle, causing a loss of vehicle steering control. Dealers will replace the front lower ball joints.

Ben ça peut être dangeureux... tsé un tapis qui lâche et qui se ramasse dans les pédales, c'est pas ce qu'il y a de plus safe ! Ça mérite un rappel comme les autres, même si ça a l'air idiot.
