Rick Wagoner, le PDG du constructeur automobile américain General Motors démissionne de son poste à l'injonction du président américain Barack Obama, qui doit dévoiler lundi..

NEW YORK (CNNMoney.com) -- General Motors Chief Executive Rick Wagoner will resign as part of the federal government's plan to bail out the struggling automaker, White House and GM sources told CNN Sunday.
Wagoner's departure comes the day before President Obama is expected to announce the latest details of the government's auto task force restructuring plan for GM and Chrysler LLC.
Fritz Henderson, the current chief operating officer, is expected to be named interim CEO, according to two GM sources.
A GM spokesman declined to comment. A company statement said: "We are anticipating an announcement soon from the administration regarding the restructuring of the U.S. auto industry."
GM and Chrysler face a Tuesday deadline to prove to the Treasury Department that they can be viable in the long term. Without such a finding, the government can recall the $13.4 billion it has already lent to GM (GM, Fortune 500) and the $4 billion it loaned to Chrysler.
Wagoner, a 32-year company veteran, has been CEO of General Motors since 2000. A senior GM official official told CNN that the White House and the task force had "sent very clear signals" that the key to more help was "new leadership" and something that would help the administration see real change.
Wagoner joined the company in 1977 as an analyst in the GM treasurer's office. Prior to becoming CEO, Wagoner was chief operating officer and led the company's North American operations. He also served as chief financial officer from 1992 to 1994.
General Motors has been hit hard as auto sales have plummeted. Sales have continued to tumble through the early months of this year, falling 40% across the industry and about 50% at GM and Chrysler. That caused the companies and industry analysts to slash their sales estimates for the year, which heightened the need for more loans to keep GM and Chrysler afloat.
Last month, the two companies filed reports on their restructuring efforts. GM said it needed up to $16.6 billion more in loans. Chrysler asked for an additional $5 billion, and said it would need the money by the end of March to avoid running out of cash.
The Obama administration had been widely expected to approve the requests. Obama has repeatedly spoken about the importance of saving the struggling auto industry, and on March 19, Treasury announced $5 billion in federal help for GM's and Chrysler's auto parts suppliers.

Bien, j'ai réussi à te faire sauver 600K$ annuellement avec un projet et d'autres montants ici et là.. Au moins, je serais qu'il faudrait couper

et qui sera le prochain? Beaucoup pensent que Fritz Henderson sera son successeur. Dommage que Roger Penske est un peu trop vieux, s'il y avait une couple d'années plus jeune, il aurait pu faire le poste. Et Carlos Ghosn a mis de côté temporairement en attendant que la situation boursière soit moins chaotique, son plan d'élargir son alliance avec un 3ème mousquetaire.

C' était à prévoir Christian STREIFF, sans le soutient de la famille PEUGEOT, ne pouvait plus tenir longtemps. Il aurait fait échouer deux tentatives de rapprochement entre PSA/FIATet PSA/BMW ou PSA/MITSU'.
Du temps ou il était PDG de AIRBUS (pendant 3 mois), il s 'était mit tous le monde à dos, même les allemands demandaient son départ.
Christian STREIFF est en plus gravement malade il a fait un accident vasculaire cérébral.
Rick WAGONER c' était aussi à prévoir, il avait refusé il y a 2 ou 3 ans l' entrée à hauteur de 20% dans le capital de GM de RENAULT-NISSAN, avec le recul, c' est tant-mieux.

Je suis surpris d'avoir vu Wagoner aussi longtemps. Ce type manque tellement de vision. De laisser Wagoner relancer GM c'est comme de proposer à Vincent Lacroix de relancer Norbourg...

Ghosn à la succession?
Wagoner parti, les rumeurs concernant sa succession alimentent déjà les conversations dans le milieu de l’automobile.
Le nom le plus souvent mentionné est celui de Carlos Ghosn, l'actuel président de Renault et de Nissan, qui a sauvé le constructeur nippon de la faillite il y a plusieurs années déjà.
S'il a toujours déclaré que le poste ne l'intéressait pas, une offre mirobolante (provenant du président Obama... qui sait?) lui ferait peut-être changer d'idée

Wagoner rebounds from blow


Rick Wagoner, even in this era of disdain for many corporate CEOs, has taken more pummeling for more years than most.





As he proved again last week, however, the General Motors Corp. chairman is among the most resilient chief executive officers.
In mid-November, Wagoner, 55, was slapped around in Washington, skewered on "Saturday Night Live" for flying in a private jet and ordered by a skeptical Congress to come back with a serious plan showing why GM needs a rescue and how it plans to pay back billions in loans.
National polls said 60% of Americans opposed aid to Detroit's automakers, and even some supporters of a rescue were squealing that Wagoner and other Detroit executives should be replaced as a condition of the loans.
Yet here we are, a couple of days after Wagoner & Co. returned to Washington in hybrid cars with a draconian plan for cost-cutting, and it looks like a deal is imminent.
GM likely will get up to $10 billion in emergency loans to keep operating until March 31.
There will be strings attached, including a government oversight board or trustee. But it does not appear that Congress will insist on throwing Wagoner or the other Detroit auto CEOs overboard.
Wagoner, the onetime Duke University basketball player, has again been elbowed, cursed and knocked around, only to pick himself up and run back onto the court for more battling.
It's nothing new.
Wagoner has been CEO since 2000 and chairman since 2003 when his mentor Jack Smith retired. And from the very beginning, Wagoner's time at the top has been rocky.
GM got kudos for its "Keep America Rolling" campaign of 0% financing to prop up car sales in the wake of the Sept. 11, 2001, terrorist attacks, but it wasn't long before heavy rebates and rising health care costs wiped out profits in North America. By 2005, GM was losing money, and its credit rating had fallen to junk status.
The company has lost more than $72 billion since the start of 2005. And GM's stock price, which hit $42 after Wagoner concluded a much-praised UAW contract in October 2007, has skidded to $4 a share

Wagoneer a été clairé parce que son plan de redressement est insuffisant aux yeux de l'administration Obama. Le "fat cut" n'a pas été assez gros au goût du gouvernement. C'est bien beau l'entente avec le syndicat mais 7$/heure de moins est insuffisant, la condition du gouvernement est de ramener les salaires à des taux semblables à ce qu'on retrouve dans les usines américaines des constructeurs étrangers et il n'y a pas assez de fermeture d'usines et de concessionnaires. C'est un message qu'Obama envoit aussi aux syndiqués. Le gouvernement américain exigerait aussi que les modèles et marques non-rentables soient flushés dans les plus brefs délais et non pas à la fin de leur cycle comme ça avait été annoncé par GM dans les premières versions du plan de redressement.
