Volvo XC90 T8
With its strategy of fully electrifying its lineup by 2019 (with either hybrid or electric powertrains), Volvo wants to position itself as a pioneer in the luxury electric segment. Since the comprehensive revision of the XC90, the Swedish manufacturer has not only turned away from large-cylinder engines in favour of 4-cylinder turbos, but it has also added a plug-in hybrid version (the T8) at the top of each model’s range. With total power of 400 hp and average consumption under 10L/100 km, the XC90 T8 is proof that a large SUV can be high-performance and fuel-efficient simultaneously. Only, it would be nice if it was a bit more affordable!
