9. No souped-up mechanics in sight?

It would be surprising if the automaker was interested in enhancing its offering with a performance variant of the QX55. The company's resources are limited at the moment, and let's not forget that Infiniti wants to move to electric powertrains. Those two factors mean we can likely forget about getting a version with a more powerful engine under the hood, despite the model’s sporty appearance.

10. Inspired by the FX, but...

The automaker has been vocal about making the link, and it’s true that in more than one way, the new 2022 QX55 is quite closely inspired by its ancestor the FX. But it’s also true that we're not talking about the same driving experience at all.

The Infiniti FX (later replaced by the QX70) was heavy, powerful, loud and more imposing on the road. The QX55 is powerful (especially in Sport mode), but it doesn't sound as convincing as the brand's other cars, especially the Q50 Red Sport. Besides, the QX55 belongs to a more-compact, more-agile class of crossovers. In short, there's a family connection, but the QX55 is more of a second cousin than a direct descendant.
