Los Angeles 2015: Volkswagen introduces 2016 Beetle Dune

By ,

Today at the 2015 Los Angeles Auto Show Volkswagen introduced the Beetle Dune, which will go on sale in coupe form early in 2016 and as a convertible during the third quarter. This new addition to the Beetle family is based on the Dune concept that was unveiled in Detroit last year.

The much sportier-looking Beetle Dune features pronounced black wheel arch extensions that flow into the bumpers, a 0.4” raised ride height and 0.6” wider track for a more rugged stance, and available Sandstorm Yellow body paint to turn even more heads. The new front bumper has a large central air intake and a black honeycomb screen, while the rear section of the car gets a large spoiler, standard LED taillights, and a new bumper design.

Under the hood of the 2016 Volkswagen Beetle Dune, you will find a 4-cylinder turbocharged engine that produces 170 horsepower through a 6-speed automatic transmission.

Inside, look for sport seats with contrasting orange stitching and a leather-wrapped multifunction steering wheel. Standard equipment includes the latest-generation MIB II infotainment system, which serves as the foundation for Volkswagen’s available Car-Net suite of features. VW Car-Net connectivity includes App-Connect technology which allows integration with the three major smartphone platforms – Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, and MirrorLink.

At the L.A. Auto Show the 2016 Volkswagen Beetle Dune is displayed alongside the 2016 Beetle Denim and 2017 Golf GTE Sport .
