2021 FULL-SIZE SUV OF THE YEAR
Chevrolet Tahoe/GMC Yukon - Nissan Armada - Ford Expedition
The arrival this year of GM's completely revamped trio has had the effect of a tidal wave. Already, the three General Motors behemoths have dominated sales for a very long time. And with the new generation, this empire is not likely to fall any time soon.
In addition to the Chevrolet Tahoe/GMC Yukon tandem, the finalists are the Ford Expedition, which is another great option for transporting the family and even a long, heavy trailer, and the Nissan Armada, the Japanese model that continues to evolve with the seasons.
2021 LUXURY SUBCOMPACT SUV OF THE YEAR
BMW X2 - Mercedes-Benz GLB - Volvo XC40
The move to subcompact utility models also applies to the luxury segment. Automakers are looking to retain their future customers with this more financially accessible category. As nimble as luxury compact cars, these crossovers also have slightly more ground clearance to get out of a snowbank or even to climb the path to the cottage.
Of these finalists, the BMW X2 is definitely the most compact-like. The Mercedes-Benz GLB is more like a shrunken G-Class, while the Volvo XC40 is a happy mix of agility, interior space and comfort.
Will the Scandinavian entry win out over the Germans? We’ll know more... in a week.
