2021 Luxury Entry-Level/Compact Car of the Year: Genesis G70
The Genesis G70 has wowed critics since its earliest days on the market. Not only does its on-road chops rival those of the category’s big established guns, the Korean automaker’s compact performance sedan continues to make rivals look bad. And this victory, we should point out, goes to the 2021 G70, not the revised 2022 model we just previewed, and which should be even better.
And to add fuel to the fire, the G70 won its title versus the redesigned Lexus IS and the segment's benchmark, a certain BMW 3 Series. That's no small feat!

2021 Luxury Midsize Car of the Year: Mercedes-Benz E-Class
In this more conservative category, the Genesis G80 was a finalist and could have muddied the waters, but the Genesis tidal wave stopped here. Indeed, the wide range of the Mercedes-Benz E-Class product offering convinced the members of our jury, as did the general comfort the model provides, not to mention the sportiness of the AMG versions.
And then there's the resale value that comes into play here. All in all, then, the E-Class comes out on top this year.
