For 2022, Mazda is still marketing its MX-30 electric crossover, but the almost shockingly small range of that model means that the Japanese automaker has already acknowledged it’s working on a version equipped with a small rotary engine - which acts as a range extender.
That variant will come to the rescue and join the lineup to placate those customers who find the current MX-30’s maximum range (161 km according to the Canadian EnerGuide) to be woefully inadequate for our Canadian needs. According to reports, the range should be much more interesting with this thermal engine in place.
