20th edition of Défi Vision: Mira collects $72,000

By ,

A few days ago, forty-one cars shared the track at the Granby Autodrome for the 20th edition of Défi Vision , a race for blind people held by the Mira Foundation. Dozens of Quebec celebrities had accepted an invitation from the event's spokesperson, Bertrand Godin, including comedians and TV hosts Fabien Dupuis, Philippe Fehmiu and Jean-François Baril as well as journalists Dominique Arpin and Charles-André Marchand. Everyone was anxious to hit the track for this great cause.
Of course, the team at Auto123.com could not pass up such an opportunity. Three tandems sporting the company's colors were formed on the starting grid. Bertrand Godin's earned 5th place while me and André Petit finished 24th. As for Daniel Lafrance's pair, they did not manage to complete the 10-lap race. Overall, there was a lot of bumping and wreckage but also a ton of fun and action. The crowd of 10,000 spectators at the Granby Autodrome witnessed quite a show.
The winners of the event were former Montreal Alouette footballer Éric Lapointe and his blind driver Serge Lowe. However, one could easily argue that the real winner of this incredibly entertaining night was the Mira Foundation, who wound up collecting over $72,000.
