7 – On the road
The experience behind the wheel of a luxury vehicle is an important factor in consumer's buying decision-making. Not everyone expects to be amazed and exhilarated, but buyers will reject a model if they’re disappointed by how it performs on the road.
With the QX60, you get a kind of an in-between experience, so while there’s no minds being blown there’s also no disappointment. In truth, the QX60 is a very comfortable model with a solid chassis that makes driving it very reassuring. You could wish for more, but you can live with what you get.
It's a bit like everything else the model delivers, in the end: the QX60 won’t thrill you, but it won’t let you down, or worse, make you feel like you’ve spent premium-car money on a budget-car experience.
8 – Fuel consumption
We talked earlier about electrification. The QX60 could use some, one way or another, because it's a little thirsty for fuel. Our week ended with an average of 11.9L/100 km, which is on the high side given the current competition the model must fight against. Advertised ratings are 12.5L city and 9.0L highway, but realistically, you can expect to put up slightly higher numbers than that.
Infiniti will have to do better in this regard, and sooner rather than later. Yes, that means electrification, but also more frugal powertrains.

Conclusion
The QX60 is not a bad product, far from it. However, for a company that needs something drastic to set its ship right in the luxury segments it competes in, it's going to take more than an solid, unexciting model like the 2022 QX60.
More than ever, in the current context, electrification appears to be the only plausible avenue to a healthy future for Nissan premium brand.
