Batista Pininfarina

The Pininfarina firm is one of the best-known in automotive history. Less well-known is the man who founded it, Battista Farina – later known as Battista Pininfarina. As a teenager he found work at company called Fabbrica Italiana Automobili Torino (FIAT), which had just been founded by Giovanni Agnelli. His new boss recognized the young Farina’s talent and tasked him with creating the styling of the Fiat Torpedo, his first design.

In 1930, the stylist created his own design firm, Carrozeria Pinin Farina. That company would go on to produce some extraordinary gems like the Ferrari F40.
