2018 Hyundai Kona
It comes as no real surprise that 2017 was the year of the compact crossover at LAAS; a look on our nation’s roads lately will show you just how far along this segment, which has for years been big in Europe if not North America, has come. So it goes that Hyundai brought its entrant, the Kona, to LAAS. It slots just below the Tucson in the lineup, and it gets Hyundai up to speed in a segment already populated by the likes of Honda, Mazda, Jeep, Fiat, Buick, Chevrolet, Nissan and Toyota. To compete with the establishment, Hyundai has given the Kona bright colours, some toughen-it-up plastic cladding and two engine choices: a 2.0L Atkinson-cycle mild hybrid powertrain as well as a hi-po, 175 hp turbocharged unit. A single 6-speed automatic transmission will be available, paired with either FWD or AWD. More details on the Kona .
