4 — Rivian R1T
In principle, 2020 will be the year we get to see the production version of the Rivian R1T pickup, with the first units getting delivered possibly even before the New Year’s ball next rises in Times Square.
Good thing too, because Ford and GM are hard at work on their own electric-powered pickups.
Rivian is considered a very serious player in the industry, it should be noted. Last year the EV maker snagged huge investments from Amazon, Ford and Cox ($700 million, $500 million and $350 million, respectively). In December, it pulled in another $1.3 billion courtesy T. Rowe Price Associates. And the R1T has moved beyond the drawing board to actual testing. Serious, indeed.
