Midsize pickup: Chevrolet Colorado/GMC Canyon
The midsize pickup segment will once again be turned upside down in 2022. There’s the complete renewal of the Nissan Frontier, and the refresh of the Toyota Tacoma, which will be available in a multitude of versions. The Ford Ranger, meanwhile, is awaiting its redesign, and the Jeep Gladiator will probably be electrified in a few months.
However, the sure best in this segment is none of the above; it comes from General Motors. The American pickup has kept the model’s workhorse bonafides with a lightly-equipped variant geared for use on construction sites. But you can also go wild with the ZR2 version of the Chevrolet Colorado, made to excel off-road driving. And let's not forget the trio of available powertrains, something that almost none of the competition offers aside from Jeep.
