For the past year or so, Audi has been offering its North American customers the e-tron SUV, and the model recently saw the Sportback variant sidle up alongside it in the German automaker’s lineup.

Unfortunately, both of these models are expensive, a detail that could be corrected by a smaller electric crossover. The Q4 e-tron prototype unveiled in 2019 also looks very close to a production model, suggesting that the Q4 - which is based on Volkswagen's SEM platform - could come along fairly soon, hopefully next year.

If there's one manufacturer on this list that needs fresh blood even more than Jaguar-Land Rover, it's Alfa Romeo. Despite the Italian manufacturer's glorious past, the company simply couldn’t get sales figures off the ground, even before the coronavirus outbreak.

The arrival of the Stelvio, the brand's only utility vehicle, has helped somewhat, but a more urban and accessible model inspired by the highly praised Tonale concept would be welcome these days, especially with a hybrid powertrain as promised by the prototype.
