Nissan's been promising us a Z renewal for quite a while now. The 370Z having arrived in 2009, it's due for some substantial changes. The good news for fans of the car is that a prototype based on the current chassis was seen at the Nürburgring. The automaker may have wanted to see what the 400-hp twin-turbo V6 available in the Infiniti Q60 RedSport coupe is capable of - who really knows?

The automaker has made no secret of its desire to climb back into the sports car arena, but the instability surrounding the Renault-Nissan-Mitsubishi alliance could well sink the project.
