This, of course, isn’t the first time Porsche has employed hybrid technology. The automaker has been doing it in the Panamera grand tourer and Cayenne SUV for years. In fact it’s not even the first time the automaker has hybridized a 911 platform, after they campaigned a 911 hybrid racer all the way back in 2010.

It is the first time we’re seeing a hybrid 911 road car, though. And it’s looking to be quite the stunner.

It may be hybridized but its gas engine has actually gotten bigger. It now displaces 3.6 litres as opposed to 3.0, which translates into an additional five hp, plus it runs much cleaner than previous.

The real boost in power comes from the addition of an electric motor mounted to the transmission that adds an additional 55 hp and a whopping 110 lb-ft. Add an electric turbocharger that doubles as a power generator for the hybrid’s battery, and now we’re talking.

When is the Porsche 911 GTS Hybrid coming?

The Carrera GTS will be available with rear- or all-wheel drive from autumn 2024.
