Before their favourite brand goes fully electric, BMW enthusiasts can count on a few plug-in hybrids to hit dealerships, including this version of the X5. The announced range of about 50 km is disappointing, but I was pleasantly surprised to be able to push it to 60 km. Of course, you want more, but that's the acceptable threshold.

And beyond that, the X5 is still an extraordinary luxury SUV. With the right discipline, this version becomes economical to drive. Beware of maintenance costs, though.
