Hyundai 45 EV Concept

We're not convinced that celebrating the Pony is in itself necessarily warranted, but that’s what Hyundai is doing with the 45 EV Concept . This retro-yet-futuristic prototype that takes its inspiration from another concept car presented 45 years ago, called the Pony Coupe Concept. The production version of the Pony that came in its wake, though of questionable overall quality, proved a great early success for the Korean brand, including right here in Canada.

If you take a look at the 45 EV’s roofline, you'll see at least a bit of the 1974 Pony Coupe. The car's name is also partly explained by its 45-degree angles at the front and rear, creating a diamond-shaped silhouette that further foreshadows the design direction of future electric vehicles.

This Hyundai all-electric design study also features a system of hidden monitoring cameras, there to provide the basis for future autonomous driving systems and new technologies, all thanks to Hyundai's open, forward-looking architecture. A Pony of the future.
