2020 Toyota Highlander
It was in New York way back in 2001 that Toyota introduced its very first Highlander. Nearly 20 years later, Toyota is launching the fourth generation of its popular midsize SUV .
This new 2020 model will be presented with two engines and in no fewer than five versions. The L, LE and XLE versions have a black grille with silver trim, while the Limited and Platinum versions feature a black grille with chrome trim, and a chrome-plated lower back end, high-end projector-style headlamps and, for the first time on a Highlander, 20-inch alloy wheels.
The Platinum version is further distinguished by its silver-painted front and rear bumpers, and exclusive 20-inch wheels.
The fourth-generation Highlander is 60 mm longer than its predecessor, with that added length going mainly to the trunk to increase cargo volume. The second row can be moved forward by 30 mm to provide third row passengers with more room.
Buyers have the choice of a 3.5L V6 engine (295 hp) or a 2.5L 4-cylinder gasoline engine that combines with two electric motors to deliver 240 hp and and estimated highway fuel consumption of just 6.9L/100 km. All models come with 2- or 4-wheel drive, and the new stiffer platform should make for a more dynamic ride.
