CART has solidified its 2004 schedule, but there are still several questions
to be answered. The legal dispute between CART and the Fontana circuit has left
the latter part of the season uncertain.
The California Speedway is suing the body over the cancellation of this year's
final round scheduled for the track. The event was called off due to the recent
fires in the region.
"We have an unresolved situation in terms of a date at California Speedway,"
said CART chief Chris Pook. "Until this issue is resolved, we are unable to
finalize dates at Mexico City, Korea and Miami.
"However, agreements exist with all of these venues and once the California
Speedway issue is resolved, we will announce the remaining race dates.
" A similar situation exists with a possible return to Brands Hatch, and we will
be able to proceed in that regard as soon as ownership rights to the track are
worked out."
The race in South Korea has been confirmed on what is set to be a "temporary
road course". The venue for the Las Vegas event is still uncertain, and the race
will not necessarily be run on the city's oval speedway.
