Paul Tracy's 2005 Champ Car was much like a roller coaster as he experienced incredible highs, as well as extremely disappointing lows source: paddocktalk.com - Brad Gerhart The outspoken Champ Car veteran started off with his right foot heavy on the gas. At the season opener in Long Beach, he would claim Pole, and go on to finish second to Sebastien Bourdais. However, Neither Monterrey or Bourdais would be as kind to the Canadian South of the border. In Mexico, Bourdais - who appeared to have taken more room than necessary - drove Tracy to his first DNF of the season. The race could have granted the Forsythe driver his first victory of the season but a dejected Tracy retired earlier than anticipated and was not pleased with the outcome. "I was just cruising along saving fuel when he tried a dive-bomb pass at Turn 5," said Tracy. "I gave him all the room I could but he just kept coming and rammed right into me. I don't know what he was thinking. There was absolutely nowhere for me to go." Bourdais had a very different view of the situation and believed Tracy was actually the one at fault. "He doesn't give you any room when you are trying to pass him and things like that but that's usual PT," said Bourdais. Not at all pleased with both his on-and-off track actions Tracy again stirred the pot to begin a season long war-of-words with Bourdais. "(The) McDonald's team is one of the best in the business, but I got ambushed by the Hamburglar today," said Tracy. "Then he (Bourdais) puts out a press release whining that it was all my fault. I think the guy's had a few too many Happy Meals."
