The honorable mentions of Dan Clarke, Anrew Ranger and Mario Dominguez narrowly missed out on the top-10 moments of the 2006 Champ Car season. source: paddocktalk.com - Brad Gerhart This installment deals with the 10th through the sixth best moments of the season. Each moment generated a great deal of interest during the Champ Let's get it started. 10.) Crazy in Montreal Personally, for me, being at Montreal this year with all the chaos was something that I won't forget for a long time. The promoter sent all the signs that they wanted NASCAR in Montreal and Champ Car elsewhere which proved to be quite frustrating. To top it off, the rain on Sunday was difficult to explain. It was one of those 'you had to of been there" deals. The rain drops were enormous and from 11 am till around 6 pm, there was no signs of it letting up or a slightest possible chance for a race. I have never been so soaked in my life! The rain and gusting winds were amazing. The hours upon hours sitting idle in the media center didn't help the matter either. It was pure boredom until a final decision was made. But thankfully, the race was rescheduled for Monday. Despite the Sunday weather, a decent crowd arrived on Monday and was able to watch some awesome, awesome racing in both the Atlantic series and Champ Car series. Though no one would choose to be a part of such a wild event, somehow the experience was enjoyable! 9.) Will Power Pole at Home Power raised quite a few eyebrows with his provisional pole on Friday at Surfers Paradise. Many thought he may have gotten lucky with the late yellow, and being on top of the leader charts. However, the rookie proved everyone wrong on Saturday and showed he belonged at the front. During the race, he held his own with just about everyone, until Sebastien Bourdais made contact with him. The rookie driver, went onto win the rookie of the year award, in a seat that Marcus Marshall struggled with last season. With Power's great driving skills and under the direction of Derrick Walker, Power should be around for a long Champ Car career.
