We thought we'd do a quick update of the Champ Car World Series 2007 Schedule. source: paddocktalk.com - rumors After two years of trying to expand internationally, 2007 may be the year for Champ Car. One surprising move seems to have the series returning to Europe in 2007. Autosport is reporting and quoting Champ Car President Steve Johnson. He is indicating that the series has signed two "Memorandums of Understanding". One with Oschersleben, Germany, and the other with Assen in the Netherlands. But we must also note that a similar Memorandum of Understanding was signed in April of 2005 to host a round in Beijing, China in 2006. Sponsor logos even appeared on the RuSPORT Champ Car sidepods promoting the event during 2005 season. But obviously, the race didn't make the schedule. That being said... recently, unconfirmed information came our way that the Champ Car World Series may indeed race in China after all. Another venue which has had a target date of 2007 for a couple of years is a possible street race in Otaru, Japan. Though we could find no record of a MOU, the planning has been long and impressive. But hasn't been in the recent schedule rumors. One new Champ Car venue that has been confirmed is The Vegas Grand Prix which will be held in and around downtown Las Vegas April 6-8, 2007. It appears as though this venue will be the season opener. Another U.S. street race that was fighting for a place on the schedule was in Phoenix. The promoter faced stiff opposition from the local ISC track Phoenix International Raceway.
