With the news that OWRS will buy the assets it needs to run Champ Cars in 2004 and beyond, fans can rejoice source: champweb.net by Dane Kelly Despite the months of negative press, three brave men continued to assure us that their mission would end in success. Despite the negative press that drove away business and cast a shadow over CART HQ, the OWRS principals pressed on like they could see the rainbow through the clouds. Despite the negative words from people all over the racing community who will go unnamed, Champ Cars will live on. A sigh of relief? No, not really. For those of us who believed all along that something so great could never be extinguished, we say, "Was there a worry?" There wasn't even supposed to be a 2003. Rest assured now that the ball is rolling in the right direction, the future. OWRS have been moving forward with their plans for months now in anticipation of either a successful buyout approval or via this bankruptcy agreement, either way the OWRS plan to run Champ Cars in 2004 wasn't disrupted. There are those who so fervently believe in this breed of racing that they will go to great lengths to not only preserve it, but modify it for the future, inject it with resources and watch it prosper in the years to come. So while Mrs. Forsythe, Kalkhoven and Gentilozzi have been putting this together, other team owners like Rahal, Walker, Patrick, Haas and Coyne to name just a few have been on the outside waiting to hear like the rest of us. Walker and Coyne have stepped ahead early and started making plans and testing drivers.
