No, it wasn't for race winner Kenny Brack, but rather for one of his mechanics. And everyone who knows Rick Duman and what his life's been about was genuinely thrilled with the day's result because after 30 years of trying, Duman finally made it into victory lane with a Champ Car team. "I threw my hat up in the air like Colin Chapman," he laughed while accepting congratulations from other crews. "I was starting to wonder if I was cursed." The affable 45-year-old native of Speedway, Ind. literally was born into this business. His father, the late Ronnie Duman, had been an accomplished midget and sprint driver who also competed in five Indianapolis 500s before losing his life at Milwaukee in 1968.
