Reigning CART Toyota Atlantic champion AJ Allmendinger has stressed that
he only want to run in the Champ Car World Series next year, despite the
uncertainty surrounding the series and speculation that the RuSPORT team may opt
for the Indy Racing League instead

Last week's apparent conclusion of business between CART and OWRS will go some
way to assuaging AJ's fears that his road racing dream may be compromised, and
rumours are circulating that the Californian is already out testing an RuSPORT
Lola, so things appear more promising by the day.
"Since day one, I've said that my heart lies in open-wheel road racing," he
insisted in an interview with cart.com's Gordon Kirby, "Since day one,
when I was karting - and especially over the last three or four seasons as I've
gotten closer and been around the facilities and the excitement there is at the
races - there's no place I'd rather be next season than in a Champ Car.
"Thank God for [Gerry] Forsythe and [Kevin] Kalkhoven and [Paul] Gentilozzi, and
everyone who's working their butts off to make this happen. I don't want to be
anywhere else and I can't thank them enough for putting their butts on the line
to do what they're doing to make it happen. There would be a lot of disappointed
drivers out there if CART went away. To be honest, I'd probably be one of the
most disappointed because it's been a dream that I've had. That's where I want
to be."
