Rocketsports' driver Alex Tagliani returned to Toronto, the site of one of his career-best second-place finishes in 2001, to qualify for the Molson Indy. Tagliani was fifth quickest in the first qualifying session with a fast lap of 1:00.221 (104.914 mph, 168.842 km/h). The # 33 Johnson Controls Lola was quickest on the track during the early morning practice session inspiring confidence in the Rocketsports team and their young Canadian driver. "We have a good car this weekend and we're sure it could be faster. The team did a good job and we have all the right parts," said a pleased Tagliani. "We were concerned with the temperature changes because of the rain and were a little too conservative. The car was good when it (the track) was slippery and a little too soft in dry conditions. We got ourselves up there today with a fast car and we know it will be dry tomorrow, so we're confident that we'll be in the front row tomorrow," concluded Tagliani.
