Allmendinger was one of the brightest personalities present among dozens of sports legends and rising stars on Wednesday at the Greater Cleveland Sports Awards celebration source: champcarworldseries.com Allmendinger, the personable 23-year-old who recorded two podium finishes and a sixth-place overall standing with the first-year RuSPORT team in the Champ Car World Series title chase in 2004, represented the Champ Car Grand Prix of Cleveland at Wednesday night's awards banquet that annually recognizes the best and brightest in the Greater Cleveland area sports scene. Many noteable sports celebrities were on hand for the star-studded evening, including new Cleveland Browns coach Romeo Crennel, current and former Cleveland Cavaliers players Drew Gooden, Eric Snow, Larry Nance, Terrell Brandon and Scott Williams and perhaps the two biggest sports stars in the city's history - Hall of Fame football player Jim Brown and Hall of Fame pitcher Bob Feller. "It was great to be part of such a special night in Cleveland sports," said Allmendinger, who finished sixth in last year's Cleveland race for one of his nine top-10 results in '04. "There were so many people that came out for the awards and it was cool to see the community so completely jacked about all kinds of sports in and around Cleveland.
