It was a good day for Mi-Jack Conquest Racing in Elkhart Lake on Sunday, with both cars finishing in the top ten and what a day it was for Charles Zwolsman. source: conquestracing.com Starting third, the rookie passed Series Champion Sebastien Bourdais, led the race, obtained his best Champ Car result of his career with a seventh place finish and moved up in the standings. His teammate Andrew Ranger also had an eventful race. He went off track, fell to 14th and moved his way back up to finish eighth in a race that was red flagged in order to pick up debris from a horrendous crash by Katherine Legge. She walked away unscathed and the race picked up again with two laps to go. Charles Zwolsman made everything he could of his third place starting position. At the start he made a move on Sebastien Bourdais to take second place away from the reigning champion. When the green flag came out again after a short caution period, the Conquest driver jumped passed pole-sitter Dan Clarke and led the race before being passed by Bourdais later on. The Dutchman lost another couple of positions and maintained his fourth place in front of Justin Wilson up until his first pit stop on lap 14. Following his pit stop, Zwolsman lost a few places because of the cold tire penalty and ended the race in seventh place. With his sixth top-ten result in a row, Zwolsman moved up to third in the Rookie of the Year standings and to 14th in the Championship with 133 points. "It was fun today! When you get the opportunity to run up front and you have the chance to make a pass you take it, that's what I did with Sebastien. Then after on the restart with Dan I did the same thing. Later on I fell back and I was kind of where I belonged and I was pulling away from Justin (Wilson). I was looking forward to a good race and then we came in a lap earlier then a couple of guys and it cost us a few positions. I got around Tagliani but then he clipped me and I lost two positions. Finishing seventh is a good end to the weekend."
