Bavaria Beer Champ Car Grand Prix of Holland source: champcar.ws Justin Wilson #9 CDW Cosworth/DP01/Bridgestone (Qualified 1st) - "The #9 CDW car was fantastic. I've got to thank the whole team. They've worked hard this weekend and it's nice to be quick in the wet. We weren't quite as quick in the dry, but we felt we were in with a shout this weekend. So when it started to rain I thought 'this should be good'. I was determined to go for it and hoped that when the track started drying we'd get a quick lap in. I feel pretty confident with the way the weekend is going. We'll spend tomorrow working on the dry set-up, but knowing we're on the front row definitely takes some of the pressure off." Simon Pagenaud #15 Aussie Vineyards Cosworth/DP01/Bridgestone (Qualified 2nd) - "We had a fantastic car from the beginning to the end but it just was that I got blocked in the last two laps. I couldn't make a lap at the end. It was a bit of a shame because Team Australia gave me a really good car and I can't thank them enough. I had a blast out there. It is a really great track, lots of fun and I hope we will be able to make it tomorrow." Graham Rahal #2 Medi | Zone Cosworth/DP01/Bridgestone (Qualified 3rd) - "It's always good to be up front. If it were dry we could have had a better qualifying session. Our car was definitely very good in the dry but unfortunately it rained. We did show that we had the pace in the rain but obviously we would prefer it to be dry. We've had so many races in the rain this year that it gets old after a while. I would prefer to have a dry race and have some close racing. The track is a ton of fun; it's probably the best track we've been to but it's going to be difficult if not impossible to pass so it's critical to qualify well. It was tough for me to come to grips with the car on the circuit in the rain. At first, I kind of psyched myself out and told myself it was going to be really slippery in the rain because yesterday on the track walk you got the sense that with only a little mist it was going to be slick. I think Justin ran a new set of rain tires at the end but we ran the same ones the whole session. At the end the car performed very well and I felt I had pretty good grip on the circuit. I'm pretty happy with how this whole day has gone. We started the weekend off right." Tristan Gommendy #22 Pay by Touch / MegaSpirea Cosworth/DP01/Bridgestone (Qualified 3rd) - "The Pay By Touch MegaSpirea PKV Racing team did a good job with the dry setup and we were ready for a dry qualification. For sure in the dry we would have been in the top-five. However, just before the qualification it started raining. So, the crew put on the rain setup and right from the beginning I started pushing the car. I think I did quite a good lap early in the session when the track was drying a little. I think it would have been possible to fight for the pole or at least second, but I was surprised by how quickly the track was drying, so I was late going for my fastest lap. Overall, it was a good qualification." Oriol Servia #7 Indeck Cosworth/DP01/Bridgestone (Qualified 5th) - "We were quite happy with car on the dry, we thought we had chance to fight for the pole. When its wet things change so quickly, both runs actually were wet at the start and then dried towards the end, so its tricky just being out there at the right time when it was driest was the key. I think we had a decent shot, we didn't do anything really good or anything really bad which is the trick on the wet. We ended up P5, I think on the dry we would've been faster but its not a bad place to be. I love the track, I think this the most fun I've had driving one of these race cars, its just so fast and so challenging. These cars handle so well, it's just a lot of fun. For the race its going to be very challenging to overtake just because of the nature of the track, there's no hard braking zones so definitely qualifying and pit stops are going to be the key." Sebastien Bourdais #1 McDonalds Cosworth/DP01/Bridgestone (Qualified 6th) - "The McDonald's car was good in dry conditions but we just gave the wet set up a shot when the rain started in qualifying and it was just reasonable, but not too comfortable. It had dried out a little but on the second run it was starting to rain really bad when I went back out so I decided to save the tires because it might rain all weekend. The weather is supposed to be like this all weekend so hopefully we will hit it right when the conditions change."
