Bridgestone Presents The Champ Car World Series Powered by Ford Lexmark Indy 300 - Streets of Surfers Paradise, Queensland, Australia. October 21-23, 2005 - Round 12 of 13 source: paddocktalk.com Race Distance: 159.315 miles/256.393 kilometers (57 laps on the 2.795-mile temporary street circuit). Potenza Race Tires Supplied: Bridgestone delivered via cargo ship 666 dry-condition and 304 wet-condition Potenza race tires for use this weekend. All were produced at the Bridgestone Technical Center in Akron, Ohio, U.S. For this event, Bridgestone has brought a single dry-tire specification and a single wet-tire specification, allowing every driver equal footing on the racetrack. * Dry-condition tires ("slicks"): Each car receives eight sets of slicks (32 tires) for the weekend, to use in the practice, qualifying and race sessions. Bridgestone Motorsport shipped a new tire specification for use Down Under this weekend that relies on some old Potenza street-course favorite compounds and constructions. The compound formula is the same as utilized last year at Surfers Paradise, while the tire construction mimics that of the 2003 Australia spec. The tread-area compound's "softness" is slightly harder (midrange) than what has been run on the series' other temporary street courses this season to accommodate for the length of the Surfers circuit and its long, high-speed straightaways. * Wet-condition tires ("rains"): Each car receives up to four new sets of grooved-tread Potenza rain tires per weekend on road and street courses, as needed. In addition, each car may use two sets of same-spec rain tires issued at a previous event. Bridgestone has two rain-tire specifications at its disposal, a more durable one for the faster road circuits and a softer version for the slower, tighter tracks. The softer rain tire is available this weekend.
