Toyota Atlantic: Bessette in Edmonton
source: Sportimage / poleposition.ca Fresh from his victory at the Molson Indy last Sunday, Antoine Bessette will be back in action this weekend for the eighth round of the Toyota Atlantic championship at Finning International Speedway for the first-ever Grand Prix of Edmonton, a new venue for Champ Car and its top ladder series. The capital city of Alberta will host a thrilling event but Antoine comes to this new facility with the attitude of taking on a new challenge. "I see this event as a challenge for me and the Polestar Racing Group, says the rookie driver who stands third in the series standings. We know nothing about the track, we have no data for the car setup and everybody starts fresh. We will probably drive or walk around the 1,960 mile 12-turn temporary airport track by Thursday but from our first outing on the track on Friday morning, it's going to be a race within the race to reach a peak by Sunday. All we have is a diagram of an airport and we think of Cleveland with the very large runways and fast turns. But it could be different when we drive the real thing. This is why I face this event as a personal test for me and my engineer Bruce Potter. We have reached a good chemistry in the seven rounds up to now and our Molson Indy performance says it all. Let's get busy!" Antoine Bessette will drive the #3 Unik Auto Design Atlantic car in the Grand Prix of Edmonton. Practices are scheduled for Friday and Saturday at 2:30. Qualifying sessions will be Friday at 6:45 and Saturday at 5:15 ET. Warm-up session is set for Sunday morning at 11:00 while the 32-lap race will go green at 1:00 ET. AB, the only Canadian to enter the 12-race series, is presently third in the standings. You may visit Antoine Bessette's web site at www.bessetteracing.com and the series at www.toyotaatlantic.com .
