Sebastien Bourdais heads hardware parade as Champ Car World Series celebrates 2005 season achievements source: champcarworldseries.com As Newman/Haas Racing collected the lion's share of the points in the 2005 Bridgestone Presents The Champ Car World Series Powered by Ford, so did the team's drivers Sebastien Bourdais (#1McDonald's Ford-Cosworth/Lola/Bridgestone) and Oriol Servia (#2 PacifiCare Ford-Cosworth/Lola/Bridgestone) score the largest portion of the accolades at Sunday night's 2005 series awards banquet. Bourdais celebrated his back-to-back Champ Car championships in grand fashion on Sunday evening, collecting not only a $500,000 check for winning the championship, he was named as the winner of the Bridgestone Passion For Excellence for the third consecutive season and also teamed with Nelson Philippe (#34 Wellbox Ford-Cosworth/Lola/Bridgestone) to claim the Nation's Cup title for France. "It is hard to believe sometimes that after only three seasons, we have been able to accomplish everything that we have done with Newman/Haas Racing," Bourdais said. "But once you get around these guys, you see why they are so good. From Paul (Newman) and Carl (Haas), their passion just filters through the entire organization and everyone picks up on that and feeds on it. It is a pleasure to work with these guys every day." The presenting sponsors of the series each made their own contributions to Bourdais' largesse on the evening. Bridgestone awarded its season-long Bridgestone Pole Award to Bourdais on the strength of his five poles. The $30,000 award also recognized Chief Mechanic Pedro Campuzano for his efforts on the #1 machine. The Ford Motor Company recognized Bourdais' championship by providing a Ford GT500 for Sebastien and his father to race in next year's Grand-Am Cup endurance event at Daytona. The prize was awarded by Ford Motor Company COO, Americas, Anne Stevens.
