Other times, he just enjoys playing with his 10-month-old daughter, Karma.
Yes, Brack has learned to live without racing.
One year after a horrifying wreck at Texas Motor Speedway, the former
Indianapolis 500 champion is trying to determine whether he's healthy enough or
committed enough to race again in the IRL.
"You have to ask yourself if you really want to put the work into this," he said
Tuesday, the first anniversary of the crash. "If you don't, I'm not sure you're
making the best possible platform for getting results."
Before the accident, Brack was one of the IRL's top drivers. He won the
championship in 1998 and the Indy 500 the next year. Then he won five races in
three seasons on the CART circuit and returned full-time last year to the IRL.
His effusive personality made him one of the league's most flamboyant drivers.
The 38-year-old Swede put together a rock band, Kenny Brack and the Subwoofers,
and frequently performed at track gigs during race week.
It seemed Brack had it all - a budding career, a rock-star following, a good
marriage.
His life changed Oct. 12, 2003.
