Australian Ryan Briscoe has been signed up to race at this weekend's fifth round of the Indy Racing League at Watkins Glen, competing with Dreyer & Reinhold Racing alongside regular charger Buddy Lazier. source: crash.net "Dreyer & Reinbold is a great group to be working with and I'm hoping for a good result from the weekend," said Briscoe. "I tested at Watkins Glen last year in June and we were really fast. "Other than Indy, it was the race I was looking forward to most," continued the former Target Chip Ganassi driver, "but I had an accident at Chicago, so I didn't get to race there last year. I'm really excited to go back there and race and compete because I didn't get to do it last season." The race at Watkins Glen will be Briscoe's first IRL race of the year and the Aussie has previously served as test driver for the Toyota Formula One team will have a busy return to the fray as he competes in the supporting Grand Am race at the Glen for the SunTrust team. Briscoe will look to build on his good form at road circuits like Watkins Glen, he led 50 laps on such circuits last year and claimed pole position at Infeneon, however his big accident at Chicagoland meant he missed the race at the Glen and finished 19th in the championship standings with the Chip Ganassi outfit. "While we know Buddy has performed as a champion in all types of races, the Glen gave us an opportunity to evaluate Ryan for the future on the road courses," said team co-owner Dennis Reinbold. "Our team has had probably fewer miles of road course testing than most, and we're optimistic that Ryan can continue the development of our road course efforts."
