Bruno will share front line with Fernandez source: CART.com DENVER--Bruno Junqueira captured the pole position in qualifying Saturday for Sunday's inaugural Shell Grand Prix of Denver. The race is Round 14 of the 2002 CART FedEx Championship Series. Driving the Target Toyota/Lola, Junqueira toured the 1.647-mile temporary circuit with a top time of 1:01.703, good for an average speed of 96.093 miles per hour. The pole was third this season for Junqueira, who was fastest qualifier at Motegi and Road America. Junqueira also earned a bonus point for the pole and now holds sole possession of third in the point standings. Shinji Nakano was second in the session in the Alpine/Mitsuba Honda/Lola and Scott Dixon wound up third in the Coors Light Toyota/Lola. However, Nakano's teammate Adrian Fernandez will start second in the Tecate/Quaker State/Telmex Honda/Lola by virtue of winning the provisional pole in Friday qualifying. Nakano, who will start a career-best third, had a top time of 1:01.808 (95.929 mph). Dixon will start fourth after posting a top time of 1:01.888 (95.805 mph). Rounding out the top five in the session were Christian Fittipaldi at 1:01.992 (95.695 mph) in the Lilly Toyota/Lola and Kenny Brack at 1:02.049 (95.557 mph) in the Target Toyota/Lola. Both drivers will start in Row 3. Other top-10 drivers in the session were points leader Cristiano da Matta in the Havoline Toyota/Lola, Patrick Carpentier in the Player's/Indeck Ford-Cosworth/Reynard, Tony Kanaan in the Pioneer/WorldCom Honda/Lola, Michel Jourdain Jr. in the Gigante Ford-Cosworth/Lola and Jimmy Vasser in the Shell Ford-Cosworth/Lola.
