Matthew Hamilton confirmed in IndyPro Series source: irl.racing-live.com - ORS / CAPSIS International The 1996 Indianapolis 500 Champion Buddy Lazier will soon be announced as the driver for Dreyer and Reinbold Racing's 2006 IndyCar Series campaign. While not yet official, reliable sources indicate the deal has been completed and Lazier will have his first full-time IndyCar ride since the 2002 season. Should the deal materialize as expected, this gives the IndyCar Series a total of 19 entrants planning to compete in the opener at Homestead-Miami Speedway on March 26th. The signing of Lazier to the Dreyer and Reinbold race team should elevate both driver and team. For Lazier, it will offer some consistency after jumping from ride to ride over the past couple seasons. Dreyer and Reinbold stand to benefit from one of the more talented drivers to pilot their Honda powered Dallaras. The veteran Lazier is well known for his ability to provide solid feedback to the engineering team, a major factor in the overall success of any operation. Lazier ran just six races with Byrd Brothers/Panther Racing in 2005, scoring a best finish of fifth in the Indianapolis 500 after twice having the nose of his car damaged by on track contact. The native of Vail, Colorado won the 2000 IndyCar Series championship for Hemelgarn Racing and has amassed 90 IRL IndyCar Series starts with $8,497,004 in career earnings. In other IRL related driver news, the developmental IndyPro Series also added a driver as Matthew Hamilton from Christchurch, New Zealand will drive for Dave McMillan Motorsports. Hamilton follows in the footsteps of fellow New Zealander and 2005 IndyPro champion, Wade Cunningham. Hamilton is managed by Ron Dixon, the father of 2003 IndyCar Series champion, Scott Dixon.
