This being the first time the Champ Cars are running at the 1.5-mile Las Vegas Motor Speedway, he has set a new record in the Champ Car books for his qualifying time. Las Vegas resident Jimmy Vasser (#12 Gulfstream Ford-Cosworth/Lola/Bridgestone) earns his first front row start of the season after qualifying second. Championship points leader Sebastien Bourdais (#2 McDonald's Ford-Cosworth/Lola/Bridgestone) finished third on the speed charts. The grid for tomorrow's race will be set up three wide, marking Bourdais' 13th consecutive front row start of his career.
