Another team, driver, and sponsor confirms their 2003 CART plans. source: 7thgear.com - Tara Munger CART CEO Chris Pook proudly joined team owner Bobby Rahal and driver Michel Jourdain Jr. just before the Mexico City grand prix to put another piece of the CART picture solidly in place for 2003. Michel Jourdain and Team Rahal announced the extension of their sponsorship agreement with Gigante and Home Depot. The multi-year extension, believed to be two years in length, will continue to build on Gigante's already strong presence in CART. Gigante/Home Depot not only sponsored Jourdain this season, but stepped up to one of this event's title sponsors on just their first year of participation in CART. "Obviously for CART this is a very significant announcement," said the CART CEO. "This fits into the marketing platform of the NAFTA agreement. This fits exactly in with our business to business model. These are the kind of people we want to be involved with." For Jourdain, this caps what he has called "the best year of my life", as well as the best of his career. "I think for the first time in my life, I will start an off-season knowing I will have a ride next year. It will make for a good vacation and a good Christmas! Plus, it will allow me to focus on getting prepared for next year. This year has just been the best year of my life. I'm very happy to be continuing on with Gigante, Home Depot, and of course, Team Rahal. They have just been the best and to continue on with them makes it easy for me to sleep at night."
