Dominguez' efforts were rewarded Tuesday night at the CART Banquet in Indian Wells, California when he was presented with the Bosch Most Improved Driver Award. Making the honor more special, the award was voted on by Dominguez' peers and presented by Mexican legend Adrian Fernandez. While Sebastien Bourdais ran away with Champ Car's Rookie of the Year Award, the Bosch Most Improved Driver for 2003 was even more obvious. Sure, Dominguez won a race in 2002, albeit behind the Pace Car in unusual conditions at Surfers Paradise, Australia. But in 2003, he earned four podiums, including a victory on merit in the streets of Miami. He added three more top five finishes, resulting in sixth place in the championship and 118 championship points - 89 more than he scored as a rookie. Aside from posting results at the end of the day, Dominguez was generally spectacular to watch. At Denver and Miami, he was seemingly the only man on the track who was able to pass other drivers, and he spared no effort in his attempt to beat eventual winner Bourdais to the flag on the EuroSpeedway Lausitz oval.
