There were many award winners at CART's post-season banquet in Miami. source: CART.com - David Phillips Atop the list, of course, was 2002 FedEx Champion Cristiano da Matta. Mario Dominguez won the Jim Trueman Rookie of the Year Award. Lola and Toyota collected their first CART Constructor's and Manufacturer's Champion trophies, respectively. The fans voted Paul Tracy winner of the WorldCom Most Popular Driver and journalists voted Patrick Carpentier the winner of the Greg Moore Legacy Award. Player's/Forsythe Racing won of the Motorola Move of the Race Award. But there was no more deserving--or surprised--recipient than CART's Billy Kamphausen. Kamphausen was honored for more than 30 years--make that 30 indefatigable years--of service to Champ Car racing, the last 23 to Championship Auto Racing Teams with an array of titles ranging from assistant operations and technical director to his current role as director of logistics. "I was so blown away and enamored," said Kamphausen. "It was a huge surprise. My kids were flown down to Miami so they could be present, and to have Jim McGee make the presentation--one of my cohorts over the years--I was just really impressed."
