Pole is a start source: indycar.com / Dave Lewandowski Team Penske went to the well to pull out its third consecutive pole start at The Milwaukee Mile. Target Chip Ganassi Racing utilized more recent information to secure a front-row start. Helio Castroneves grabbed his second consecutive AAMCO Transmissions Pole Award - and fourth of the season - with a quick lap of 171.071 mph (21.3596 seconds) at The Mile in advance of the ABC Supply/A.J. Foyt 225 presented by Time Warner Cable. He also started from the pole last year, and teammate Sam Hornish Jr. won the 2005 race from the pole. "No question, it's great to start on the front," said Castroneves, the pole sitter who finished third May 27 in the 91st Indianapolis 500. "This place is about consistency. One day is not enough to work as hard as we wanted, but it's the same for everyone. We know we have a fast car. Now we need to be consistent, and I do believe we have that one." It would be welcome. Last season, Castroneves led 31 laps before the No. 3 Honda-powered Dallara made contact with another car, relegating him to 14th place. His best IndyCar Series finish at The Mile is 12th. "This place is so awesome," Castroneves said. "I enjoy it so much, but there's always been something that has come around. We're not going to think that way. This year is going to be a good year. Hopefully, we're going to collect a lot of points." He'll have series points leader Scott Dixon on the outside of Row 1. Dixon (169.266 mph) said a bonus test at The Mile on May 3 (teams with Indy Pro Series cars earn bonus testing days) helped sort out some issues from previous years. The No. 9 Honda-powered Dallara also "came alive" after a few changes in an early afternoon practice session. "This morning we were struggling real bad," Dixon said. "Then we did some mock fuel runs. We changed the car spring-wise quite a bit, and with rear dampers the car just came alive. I'm more happy with my race car than with my qualifying car." Tony Kanaan would like to share that sentiment. Kanaan, driving the No. 11 Team 7-Eleven car, recorded a quick lap of 169.158 mph and will join Dixon's teammate, Dan Wheldon (169.097), on Row 2. But Kanaan isn't necessarily happy with the showing of the Andretti Green Racing contingent.
